Built for high-performance summer driving use, the Falken Azenis FK453CC features a range of new technology for added driving performance, comfort and longer lasting treadlife. Engineered for today’s sport SUV’s and crossovers, the FK453CC is all about traction and handling performance.

A new silica tread compound and asymmetric tread pattern are designed to increase dry traction, while the tire’s larger outside shoulder blocks enhance cornering grip. This is an area the tire shines and one that is most often mentioned in other driver reviews. The steering and handling are precise on this tire due in part to the continuous center rib and optimized casing profile. You’ll find that this model is also very stable throughout the speed zone.

The tire’s unique tread pattern and three wide circumferential grooves contribute to channeling away water for increased traction on wet pavement. This effectively reduces the risk of hydroplaning, which is another plus for this tire.

Falken’s engineers didn’t gloss over ride comfort when they created the FK453CC. Noise is an issue that plagues many high-performance SUV tires, but Falken has used their unique NUR-Spec tread design, which adds a nylon-reinforced cover ply and additional strengthening of the sidewalls. The result is not only a quiet ride, but an increase in handling and cornering as well.

The FK453CC is available in a range of 17-20 inch sizes, and come in either a V, W or Y-speed rating. A limited tread warranty is also part of the package.

Overall Thoughts

Falken has a number of very good performance tires in their lineup, and this may be their best of the group. This is simply an excellent tire that ranks right up at the head of the class with models such as the Michelin Latitude Sport and General Grabber UHP.

Traction on dry or wet road surfaces is above average, while cornering grip and stability is outstanding. Beyond that, ride comfort is better than you might think, and treadwear has shown to be good, although it may be shorter for those who push the tires harder than average.

Overall, if a summer high-performance tire is what you’re looking to add to your sport truck, SUV or crossover, the FK453CC is one of the best. Even better is its lower price point when compared to some other top models.
