Dunlop SP Sport Maxx TT Tire Review & Rating

The SP Sport Maxx TT from Dunlop is built to deliver maximum traction and handling for drivers looking for a high-performance summer driving tire. Engineered for all types of sports cars, coupes and sedans, the TT utilizes the latest in materials and tire technology, including the addition of Dupont Kevlar in the tire’s sidewall for increased cornering stability, braking and acceleration.

A race inspired high performance tread compound is matched up to an asymmetric tread pattern and unique Touch Technology that maximizes steering response and driving precision.

Dunlop also adds their Multi-Radius Tread Technology that is designed to create not only a larger footprint, but one that smoothly transitions the tire from a straightaway into a curve. It also increases traction on dry and wet pavement, something this tire receives overwhelming positive reviews in. With its crisp steering response, this new technology increases stability and control at all speeds.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts and Dunlop’s exclusive JointLess Band technology that reinforces the belts with spirally wrapped Polyamide that adds more strength and durability at higher speeds, as well as better overall ride comfort. A built-in rim protector helps protect damage to your wheels from curbs and other obstructions. You’ll find sizes available from 17-22 inches, and speed ratings of W and Y.

Overall Thoughts

The Dunlop Sport Maxx TT is a max-performance summer tire that had all of our team in agreement on… it ranks among some of the best tires in this class. From the race inspired tread compound to the traction it provides on dry or wet road surfaces, this tire does it very well. Wet grip performance is amazing at times, and we don’t say that lightly.

Steering response is just as should be on a tire like this. It also maintains excellent stability throughout the speed range. Cornering grip is downright fun at higher speeds. The Dupont Kevlar reinforced sidewalls greatly enhance the handling and feedback. What may surprise you a bit is how quiet and comfortable this tire is when driving down the highway. Dunlop has done a very good job in this area.

Overall, this model deserves its higher ranking. While models like the Michelin Super Sport and Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position get a lot of the attention in this class, and for good reason, Dunlop has quietly brought out a tire that sports impressive performance.

Warranty

Dunlop provides a limited tread warranty on the TT. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
