Doral SDL-A Tire Review & Rating

The Doral SDL-A is an affordable all-season tire that focuses on providing the traction, handling and grip needed in different driving conditions throughout the year. Built for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers, the SDL-A is also low priced for those on tight budgets.

Sporting an all-season tread compound and advanced tread pattern, the Doral SDL-A is built to provide reliable dry and wet traction, handling, responsiveness and comfort.

Doral SDL-A Tire Review

The tires’ circumferential grooves and wider lateral grooves assist in evacuating water from under the tread when driving in wet conditions. It also reduces the likelihood of your vehicle hydroplaning.

Although Doral SDL-A tires are M+S rated and do a decent job in light snow, winter performance is not a strong point for this model, especially in deeper amounts of snow and on icy pavement.

Doral SDL tires come in 13 to 18 inch sizes, with S, T, H and V speed ratings available. A 45K tread life warranty is provided by the manufacturer. Doral is owned by Sumitomo.

Pros

  • Dependable dry and wet traction and handling
  • Smooth and quiet ride
  • Low cost

Cons

  • Struggles on snow and icy roads
  • Treadlife may be shorter for some

Overall Thoughts

There is no doubt that the Doral SDL-A tire is one of the most economically priced all-season tires available today. On the plus side, this tire provides good dry and wet traction to go with a smooth ride. Road noise is not as bad as you might expect from a value-based model.

However, there are areas where this tire has some issues. As you might expect from an all-season tire, it struggles with traction on deeper snow, ice and hardpacked snow. In addition, while it does have a 45K mile tread warranty, we’ve heard from some drivers of less than expected mileage out of the tire. In fairness, many have praised the treadlife.

Overall, if price is a major factor and you’re simply needing a good all-season tire for your everyday driving needs, the Doral SDL-A tire is a nice option.

  1. Just bought a set for our 2008 jeep liberty 18size rims. If bought at a small local tire dealer does the 45k warranty cover, (etc. Blow out, punctures, defects). How would i register with the company?
