Dick Cepek Trail Country Tire Review & Rating

The Dick Cepek Trail Country was designed for drivers of pickups and SUV’s who are seeking a tire that performs consistently both on and off road. Finding a model that can do both is often challenging, however Dick Cepek feels they have managed to do just that with the Trail Country.

A silica-enhanced tread compound is molded into a 5-rib symmetric tread pattern that helps this tire deliver improved wet and dry traction. Added zig-zag siping around the tread further enhances all-season grip on a variety of road surfaces.

Off-road traction on dirt, mud, gravel and other terrain is increased through the tire’s scalloped shoulder lugs and deeper multi-dimensional sidebiters. These sidebiters also offer more protection against punctures and cuts. Dick Cepek’s unique ramp-lock design reduces stone retention by pushing smaller rocks and gravel to the tire’s circumferential grooves for easier release, something that is often mentioned in reviews from other drivers.

Treadlife and durability are addressed through twin steel belts that are reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon on top of a two-ply polyester casing. The result is added toughness which has been a strength for this model. Sizes are available ranging from 15 to 20 inches, and you’ll find optional load range E sizes as well.

Pros

  • Unique Dick Cepek design for off-road use
  • Strong performance and enhanced protection on all terrain
  • Long lasting and durable tread

Cons

  • Not always consistent in icy conditions

Overall Thoughts

The Trail Country really does provide the best of both worlds. Expect to find excellent performance in rough terrain, while providing grip and traction, as well as decent ride comfort, on normal road surfaces.

The tires can be a bit inconsistent in winter with their design not always suited to deeper snow and icy conditions, however they do perform better than some others in this regard. Road noise is minimal and not excessive in the least on this tire.

Overall the Trail Country is a very good tire that ranks in the upper half of the all-terrain class.
