Cordovan Grand Prix Tour RS Tire Review & Rating

The Cordovan Grand Prix Tour RS is built to provide all-season drivability with a longer lasting treadlife. Designed for use on coupes, sedans and minivans, the Grand Prix Tour RS features a low-cost that will appeal to drivers on tighter budgets.

Cordovan uses an all-season rubber tread compound and symmetric tread pattern for increased dry traction and handling. A notched continuous center ribs adds to steering and handling response.

Cordovan Grand Prix Tour RS Tire Review

Full-depth sipes, which is a nice feature for a budget tire, and four circumferential grooves are designed to enhance grip on wet road surfaces and lower the risk of hydroplaning. These added sipes will also help with traction in light snow, however this is not a strong point for this tire.

Cordovan has a wide range of 14-17 inch sizes with T, H and V-speed ratings. Somewhat surprising is the addition of a 50K or 60K mile tread warranty depending on the tires speed rating.

Pros

  • Dry traction and handling is good
  • Treadwear
  • Low cost will appeal to tighter budgets

Cons

  • Boost in ride comfort and reduce noise
  • Deep snow/ice braking and traction

Overall Thoughts

The Cordovan Tour RS isn’t trying to fool anyone into thinking it’s more than it is. It’s a basic entry level all-season tire that comes in a much lower cost than many tires sold today. While you’ll find increased savings, don’t expect Michelin or Continental tire type performance.

Dry traction and handling are satisfactory, and the ride is average unless you’re hitting rough pavement or potholes. Road noise could be reduced as well. Treadlife is not bad and Cordovan does provide a mileage warranty.

Winter traction is what you expect from most all-season tires, which is poor. Braking and acceleration are difficult on ice and hardpack, although the added sipes do help on wet pavement as well as going through slush.

Overall, if budget is your leading driver in choosing a set of everyday use tires, the Tour RS will help in that regard.
