Cooper Lifeliner GLS Tire Review & Rating

The Lifeliner GLS from Cooper is built to provide all-season touring performance for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans and minivans. This model is one of Cooper’s more popular budget-friendly tires that is designed to enhance driving comfort and a longer treadlife.

An all-season specially formulated tread compound and symmetric tread design are engineered to increase traction and handling on dry and wet road surfaces. A notched center rib and deeper shoulder slots add stability and increased steering response on dry pavement, while also promoting more even tread wear.

Four circumferential grooves enhance wet tractionand reduce the risk of hydroplaning in heavy rain. The tire’s sipes provide biting edges for increased grip on wet or snow covered roads. Cooper has optimized the tread pitch sequence in order to effectively lower outside road noise and create a more comfortable driving experience.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are nylon wrapped for added reinforcement and durability throughout the speed range. They also increase overall treadlife, which Cooper backs up with a 65,000 mile tread guarantee. The GLS is available in T, H and V-speed ratings.

Pros

  • Excellent dry and wet traction
  • Steering is crisp and responsive
  • Ride is comfortable and outside noise is minimal
  • Above average tread life

Cons

  • Cornering could be stronger for more spirited drivers
  • Winter traction

Overall Thoughts

Note: The GLS is being replaced by the new CS3 Touring.

The Cooper GLS is a good all-around tire for drivers looking for predictable handling and performance in an all-season tire. Although its cornering abilities may disappoint more spirited drivers due to its softer sidewall, the tire was never designed for high performance use. It’s a touring tire offers good dry and wet traction, with a comfortable ride and long lasting tread life.

Traction in deeper snow and ice is another area where this tire falls a bit, but that’s nothing new for the majority of basic all-season tires.

Overall, a solid low cost choice that does its job well. However, we would definitely recommend going with the newer CS3 Touring instead.
