The Continental ContiSportContact 3 features impressive tire technology for drivers looking for a high performance summer tire. Engineered for powerful sport coupes and sedans, this tire is a big step ahead of the older Sport Contact 2.

An asymmetric tread design that is created with more solid tread blocks and a circumferential rib on the outer shoulder gives the tire better cornering power and enhanced steering response on dry road surfaces. This is added control that you can literally feel as you are driving.

Braking performance is impressive due to the intermediate ribs that surround the tire and the larger contact patch which gives better control and stability, while also shortening braking distance.

Continuous circumferential tread grooves and an improved tread design provide enhanced wet surface handling and traction. The grooves evacuate more water away from the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts with nylon reinforcement that are designed to add more strength and stability at higher speeds. They also give the tire more durability and improved treadwear. Sizes ranging from 17-21 inches are available, and the tires carry either a W or Y-speed rating.

Overall Thoughts

Continental has several high performance summer tires in their lineup, but the ContiSportContact 3 is arguably one of their better models when it comes to dry traction stability and cornering grip. In addition, the steering is quick and precise. Braking performance is impressive as well.

We have heard a few drivers mention that this tire puts out a little extra noise as it wears down The bigger issue would have to be treadwear. You may not get the miles out of the tread that you expect if you tend to drive the tires hard on a regular basis.

Overall, this is not a bad model in the least, however we feel there are other tires like Continental’s ExtremeContact DW that are a step ahead performance wise. That said, we rate this tire in the middle of the UHP summer class.

Warranty

Continental provides a limited tread warranty on the ContiSportContact 3. You will find a one-year or first 2/32 inch of wear guarantee on tire uniformity.

Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free first year or first 2/32 inch of wear replacement. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or until the tire reaches 2/32 inch of tread depth.

Continental provides a 30-day customer satisfaction trial in which if you are not completely satisfied you can exchange the tire with another Continental model.
