Capitol Sport UHP Tire Review & Rating
The Capitol Sport UHP is designed as an ultra-high performance all-season tire for drivers of sport coupes and sedans. It is built to deliver reliable dry traction, increased cornering grip and a lower price that will fit most any budget.
An all-season tread compound, larger linked shoulder blocks and continuous center rib combine for increased dry traction and handling response. Cornering stability on this tire is very good, an area that is often mentioned in other driver reviews as well.
Four circumferential grooves and multi-angled lateral grooves enhance grip on wet pavement and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. The addition of biting edges are engineered to improve traction on snow and ice, however winter traction is not something this tire does well.
You’ll find Capitol Sport UHP tires in 15-19 inch sizes, and with speed ratings of H, V or W. Capitol provides a limited tread warranty on all sizes.

Overall Thoughts
The Sport UHP gives you mixed feelings for the most part. On one hand, the traction and cornering grip on dry pavement is very good. In addition, the price fits into just about any budget.
On the other hand, there are some things this model doesn’t do so well. One of those things is the increased road noise you can expect to find. Beyond that, traction on anything but a light dusting of snow is likely to become problematic for anyone. We’ve heard a number of drivers speak to how poor the winter traction is. Naturally, this is no winter tire, but it’s handling of the white stuff is lower portion of the class.
Overall, despite the cheaper cost, we feel there are better options available. Models like the Nexen N7000 Plus, Sumic GT-A or Vento G3 deliver higher performance and still come in a low cost as well.
