Bridgestone Turanza ER33 Tire Review & Rating
The Turanza ER33 from Bridgestone is designed to deliver summer touring performance for all types of sport coupes and luxury sedans for drivers who seek competent traction and handling with a smooth and comfortable ride. The ER33 has been used as original equipment on vehicles like the Lexus IS250, Toyota Camry and several other models.
An advanced summer tread compound combines with asymmetric tread pattern and wider shoulder blocks for increased handling and cornering grip. The tire’s center rib adds more responsive steering and stability, while enhancing dry traction.
Four circumferential grooves and added lateral notches around the tread channel away water under the tread in wet weather and work to reduce the risk of hydroplaning. The result is increased wet traction and overall safety.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are nylon reinforced for added strength and stability at higher speeds. Ride comfort and treadwear are increased through the rayon cord body. Sizes are available from 16-19 inches, and there is also an optional run-flat version available as well.
Pros
- Dry traction is excellent
- Predictable cornering grip
- Responsive steering and overall stability
- Ride is comfortable
Cons
- Can get a bit noisy as tire wears
- Treadlife is a big problem area
Overall Thoughts
Seeing that the ER33 is used as O.E. on Lexus and some other brands, we expected a much better tire. While we agree that dry traction and cornering grip are both very good, and the ride is comfortable for the most part, that was about it.
Noise is an area that needs attention once the tire begins wearing down. It’s an issue that we’ve seen many drivers discuss in reviews and ratings of this tire. Beyond that though is the single biggest negative with this model… its poor treadlife. The 140 UTQG rating is a giveaway on what to expect, but this tire should provide much better wear than it does.
Overall, we rank the ER33 at the bottom of its class for summer touring tires. We would recommend other models like the Michelin Primacy HP or even going with a touring all-season tire instead of this tire.

After having the original Continental tyres on my van, the tyre shop recommended Bridgestone Turanza ER33. Since then I’ve had 3 sets of this tires on my Mercedes Benz V250, the tyre size is 245/45R19 102Y. I travel 260-300 kilometres a day doing courier job. On my first set I did approximately 38000 kilometres. The Second set lasted 40000 kilometres. The 3rd set lasted 38000 kilometres, but this time one of the tires at the front probably became wobbly which caused my steering to vibrate on high speed curvy road (maybe a case of buying a bad batch). The turanza er33 is okay on turns. On wet and dry it is quite reliable. But after having the third bad batch I won’t be going back to this type of tyre. After learning about the UTQG rating this I think had 140 A A (which in theory is quiet bad).
