Bridgestone Dueler A/T 693 II Tire Review & Rating

Built to deliver rugged all-terrain performance along with dependable all-season highway traction and handling, the Dueler A/T 693 II from Bridgestone has been widely used as original equipment on vehicles like the Chevy Silverado, Hummer H3 and many others over the years. It’s also available as a replacement tire for truck and SUV owners.

A tougher high-tech tread compound features L.L.Carbon for increased resistance to cracks, tears and chips. The tire’s symmetric tread pattern and independent tread blocks enhance dry traction and tire stability, while more aggressive off shoulder blocks provided added traction in the mud and snow.

Four circumferential grooves around the tread help in evacuating water from under the tread and reducing the risk of hydroplaning. The tread design of this tire also increases steering response and adds to cornering grip as well, something that is mentioned in many other driver reviews on this model.

Deeper tread grooves increase off-road traction on the 693 II when driving on gravel, dirt, grass and rock. While perhaps not on the level of other more dedicated AT tires, performance is more than adequate.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts for added strength and stability, while the polyester cord body increases ride comfort and promotes more even treadwear. Improved O-bead construction provides durability and enhanced comfort. A 50,000 mile tread warranty is also included.

Pros

  • Very good dry and wet traction
  • Cornering grip and overall tire stability
  • Quiet and comfortable ride for an AT tire
  • Better than average tread life

Cons

  • Winter handling could be a little better
  • Not built for heavy off-road use
  • Lack of additional tire sizes

Overall Thoughts

The Bridgestone 693 II is your average everyday performing tire. It does not do anything spectacularly well, but it does not fall woefully short in any category either. Dry and wet traction is very good on this tire, and off-road performance is not bad on light terrain. It’s not designed to be a mud tire or a rock climber, so keep that in mind.

Ride comfort is good on this tire with road noise being minimal for an all-terrain tire like this. In addition, tread life is pretty decent as well.

Winter handling would be one of our bigger issues with this tire. It does ok if you slow down and take it easy, but it breaks loose in the rear if you’re not careful. You can say that for most tires, but it’s something to keep in mind with this model.

Overall, we rank the 693 II in the middle of the pack for tires in this class. Tires like Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2, Michelin LTX A/T 2 or BFGoodrich T/A KO2 among others make for better options in AT/highway tires.
