Bridgestone Potenza RE-11A Tire Review & Rating

Made for sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans, the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11A is marketed as an extreme summer performance tire that aims to provide high quality driving with superior traction and ride comfort.

An innovative tread compound that consists of silica with a new long-link carbon black keeps traction consistent on many surfaces while the asymmetric tread design features Bridgestone’s 3D Seamless Stealth technology that enhances stability and responsiveness of the road.

Bridgestone Potenza RE 11A Tire Review

For wet driving, the tires have a continuous intermediate and notched shoulder rib in addition to wide grooves that dispel water quickly and efficiently. Wet traction is a strong point on this tire.

Durability and stability are provided with a custom asymmetric shape that offers a more even and consistent driving experience and the two wide steel belts reinforced by spirally wound nylon increase strength. Bridgestone offers 15 to 18 inch sizes to go with V and W-speed ratings.

Pros

  • Outstanding dry and wet traction
  • Strong and durable tire with enhanced protection
  • Effective handling and response
  • Very comfortable ride for a UHP tire

Cons

  • Treadlife

Overall Thoughts

As far as ultra high performance summer tires go, the Potenza RE-11A offers excellent traction and handling. The tires have a range of Bridgestone technology that provides a smooth, comfortable and consistent driving experience in both wet and dry conditions. The steering is quick and responsive, and the tire remains stable throughout the speed range.

Something you’ll also notice when driving on these tires is how comfortable the ride is. Definitely not something you would expect from this type of tire. The 200 UTQG rating lets you know that treadlife can be an issue for more spirited drivers, but that’s pretty much to be expected as well.

Overall, the RE-11A ranks highly in its class. We’d say it easily ranks among the top ten models. While certainly not the cheapest tire on the market, it delivers very good performance for the money.
