Bridgestone Blizzak LM-80 Tire Review & Rating
The Bridgestone Blizzak LM-80 is a high performance winter tire designed for all types of crossover and sport utility vehicles. Like Bridgestone’s other tires in the Blizzak line, the LM-80 is designed for improved grip and handling in severe winter conditions. However, this tire has a few features that make it stand out.
The tread design utilizes an uninterrupted central rib, which helps deliver enhanced steering and stability at higher speeds. This rib is surrounded by many deep grooves which flush out water and slush, and can also be helpful gaining traction in loose or powdery snow.
As with other Blizzak tires, the LM-80 was engineered with the Lamellen technique in mind, therefore the tire has many differently directed sipes to help bite into snow and ice. It is of course also branded with the Mountain Snowflake emblem, which indicates it meets severe weather requirements.
Despite its winter tire design, ride comfort and noise levels for the Blizzak LM-80 offer an in-vehicle experience on par with conventional tires. That’s not to say it is perfect, but higher than average for a winter tire. This is likely thanks to the internal build of the tire, which features twin steel belts with a nylon wrapping.
The Blizzak LM-80 is available in sizes ranging from 17 to 19 inches and an H or Vspeed rating. Bridgestone offers a limited tread warranty on this model.
Pros
- Very comfortable ride quality and low noise levels
- Long tread life
- Good performance in snow
Cons
- Not a low priced tire
Overall Thoughts
Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM-80 series tire isn’t a bad tire by any means-but the fact of the matter is, we feel there are better tires available in this price range. That said, this is a reliable winter tire. The grip in both wet and dry conditions could be better, but the ride comfort and noise levels are excellent for tires with a severe weather rating. Compared to stock tires, the LM-80 will provide a superior experience while driving in snow, ice, and slush.
Overall we feel that Bridgestone’s Blizzak LM-80 is a bit pricey for the performance it delivers. Other similar models from Continental and Michelin offer higher performance and come in at a lower price point.

The Bridgestone Blizzak LM-80 tire is labeled as a “high performance winter tire”.
Does this mean that it’s only to be run during the winter months? Or, can it be run as an all seasonal tire?

You can run winter tires like the Blizzak year round, however the tread wears faster than traditional all season tires and the tires won’t grip as well on snow and ice once you reach a certain wear level. I had Blizzak’s on a 2017 Subaru Impreza which I swapped out for two years, on the third year I kept them on until they tread was no longer useful or safe even in summer.
tl;dr – only run them in winter if you want them to last!
