Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 Tire Review & Rating

The Blizzak DM-V1 is Bridgestone’s highest performing studless snow and ice tire for drivers of all types of trucks, SUV’s and crossovers. Bridgestone utilizes the latest in winter tire technology to give this tire the versatility to go through the roughest winter road conditions safely and confidently.

A unique NanoPro-Tech and Multicell Z rubber tread compound enhances traction and grip on snow and ice by making the tread more flexible in colder weather conditions. This is an area that many winter tires fail in. Instead of the tread becoming hard, it now remains plyable and as a result, it provides better traction and all-around performance.

The tires circumferential grooves increase wet and slush traction and reduce the risk of hydroplaning, while 3-D sipes and the tread’s center multi-Z groove pattern add more bite when driving onpacked snow and ice. The multi-Z groove also adds more block stiffness for increased handling performance on dry road surfaces.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are nylon reinforced for added strength and durability. They also improve ride comfort and promote more even wear. Bridgestone has sizes available from 15-22 inches, and you will find a limited tread warranty included as well.

Overall Thoughts

There is a night and day difference in driving on these Blizzaks than on other winter tires in this class. The traction and grip on wet, snow, slush and ice is virtually unmatched. The tire simply inspires confidence behind the wheel in harsh winter weather conditions.

Dry pavement traction is impressive and the steering is responsive for a wintertire. Expect a good long treadlife unless you drive a lot on dry pavement or drive throughout the summer season onthe tires. High performance grip comes at the expense of treadlife on bare pavement. But that’s true with any winter tire.

There is a little noise on dry surfaces at higher speeds, but again, this iscommon on winter tires, and nothing overly bothersome with this model. Overall, winter tires are really an investment in safety and performance for your vehicle. That being the case, putting a set of DM-V1 winter tires on your truck, crossover or SUV is a winning investment in our opinion. We rank this tire at the top of the class.

Warranty

Bridgestone includes a limited tread warranty. Tire uniformity is guaranteed forthe first 1/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5-years with a prorated amount being given down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
