BFGoodrich Traction T/A Spec Tire Review & Rating

The Traction T/A Spec from BFGoodrich is used extensively as original equipment on today’s sport coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers. With all-season touring performance, this T/A tire is designed to provide a smoother ride and longer treadlife.

An all-season premium tread compound and directional tread pattern combine to increase dry and wet traction. BFGoodrich’s exclusive g-Wedge sidewall stabilizers that increase cornering stability and provide more responsive steering for a higher level of performance and ride comfort.

BFGoodrich Traction T/A Spec Tire Review

Four circumferential grooves aid in evacuating water from under the tread to increase wet surface grip, while reducing the risk of hydroplaning. The Traction TA Spec carries and M+S rating and features added sipes around the tread that are created to provide traction on snow or ice covered road surfaces.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon for added strength and durability. A polyester cord body further enhances ride comfort and promotes more even treadwear. BFG includes a 70,000 mile tread guarantee as well.

Pros

  • Dry and wet traction are very good
  • Responsive steering
  • Cornering grip is better than average
  • Comfortable riding tire

Cons

  • Treadlife could be a little longer
  • Winter handling

Overall Thoughts

We were hoping for more out of the Traction T/A. While the tire does a very good job of gripping the road on dry or wet pavement, it has other areas that bring it down to a middle of the pack performer.

Winter handling is not as good as we would like to see, but in fairness this is not billed as a snow tire. Treadlife is a bigger issue that many drivers have mentioned. It has a 70,000 mile warranty, but we’ve heard several drivers talk of getting much less out of the tires.

Ride comfort on this tire is good, and noise is not a problem until the tire reaches its final tread depth. Overall, as we said, we rank this model in the middle of the touring all-season class. If you are seeking a higher performing BFG tire, the Advantage T/A may be a better option.
