BFGoodrich Commercial T/A Traction Tire Review & Rating

The BFGoodrich Commercial T/A Traction is specially designed for drivers of heavy duty light trucks, commercial vans, SUV’s and other trucks. It’s built to deliver solid performance on the highway, off road on job sites, gravel roads and other tough terrain.

Developers made a major improvement on the tread design, which features a more aggressive symmetric pattern to help provide enhanced traction when driving through rain, mud, snow and other conditions. The tread design has two types of grooves: The circumferential grooves are patterned to achieve a lower risk of hydroplaning, while the tire’s lateral grooves aid in driving through snow and slush.

BFGoodrich Commercial TA Traction Tire Review

The Commercial T/A Traction is built to shine in some of the worst conditions. It sports the Three Peak Mountain Snow flake (3PMSF) symbol for driving in severe winter weather, which is something this tire does quite well and is something often mentioned in other driver reviews.

For wet traction, the tire utilizes a silicon dioxide tread compound to go with larger circumferential grooves which results in evacuating more water from under the tread and adding more safety and stability throughout the speed range.

Ride comfort is better than expected for a commercial truck tire. We’ve heard many drivers speak of this as well. Road noise is ok for the most part, but this is an area that could be improved upon.

Load ratings on the BFG Commercial T/A range from C to E. There are two steel belts inside the carcass that add greater stability and provide added durability to the tread. The design of this model is studdable, so you can add studs during harsh winter seasons if you need to.

The two-ply polyester carcass absorbs road vibrations for increased comfort and driver satisfaction. Sizes range from 15-16 inches, and BFGoodrich includes a limited tread warranty.

Pros

  • Dry traction and handling
  • Hydroplaning resistance
  • Winter performance
  • Does well under heavier loads on or off road
  • Affordable price

Cons

  • Only available in 15-16 inch sizes

Overall Thoughts

The BFGoodrich Commercial T/A Traction is a very good choice for anyone needing tires that handle well in all four seasons, as well as under heavier loads, on all types of pavement and off-road situations. They deliver reliable performance, which is one of the biggest factors you look for in new tires in this class.

Treadwear appears to be pretty good on this tire, although we have heard from a few drivers who have said they did not get the miles out of the tread that they thought they should. However, many others have complimented this model for its good wear.

Overall, this is definitely a tire we can recommend.
