BFGoodrich Baja T/A Tire Review & Rating

Designed for the ultimate in off-road racing, the BFGoodrich Baja T/A tire has been the choice of more winners of the grueling Baja 1000 over the years than all other tire models combined. That pretty much says it all right there. The Baja TA combines an aggressive tread pattern with a nearly indestructible sidewall tread construction to provide the highest performance in the toughest of driving conditions.

A dual tread compound design increases strength in resisting bruises, cuts and punctures, while also providing better durability for a longer treadlife. Solid sidewall lugs enhance lateral traction and stability both on and off road.

BFGoodrich Baja T/A Tire Review

BFG incorporates TriGuard Plus construction in the makeup of the tire, which gives it up to 4 full nylon carcass plies in the sidewall. The results are superior puncture resistance, added strength and exceptional structural integrity.

Two full-width steel belts work to further strengthen cornering control and increase steering response in addition to adding more overall tire stability and puncture resistance.

Pros

  • Uncompromising performance in desert terrain
  • Sidewalls are as strong as you’ll find in any tire
  • Surprisingly good for street use
  • Tread life

Cons

  • Not for the light of wallet
  • Tire flat spots when sitting idle in cold temps

Overall Thoughts

You can’t drive on these Baja T/A’s and not come away impressed. The tire is that good. Is it the perfect tire? No, it does have a few downsides. Snow and ice traction is mediocre, and the tire will flat spot when sitting in colder temps overnight. Deep mud performance is poor due to the narrower tread pattern that packs in the mud. But hey, that’s not what this tire was created for. Instead, it’s built to go through sand, dirt and other dry terrain better than any other tire on the planet. To that end it does a superb job.

The bottom line… if you are looking for the toughest, thickest, strongest, best handling and fastest high-speed off road racing tire manufactured today, the Baja T/A is simply the best tire you can get.
