Overall Thoughts
Cooper has a long history of providing quality tires and their new CS5 Grand Touring continues in this line. With a variety of new technology on board, this new model ranks high in the touring all-season class.
With an enhanced silica design, 3D micro gauge grooves and an asymmetric tread, these tires grip wet and dry roads brilliantly. Traction and braking in light to moderate snow, as well as slush and softer ice, is more than capable. It’s only heavy snow that you begin to see problems, but that’s the case with most every all-season tire.
The ride is very comfortable and road noise is nearly non-existent. Treadlife has proven to be very good and Cooper adds in an excellent warranty.

I just put a set of these on my son’s 2011 Ford Fiesta. Only had them on about 30 miles, but initial impressions are positive.
The car feels really solid and planted, and they roll out smoothly at 80 mph. Can’t say much else about them at this point.
Any Chevy Trax owners have these Cooper CS5 Grand Touring tires installed on their Trax? If yes, thoughts? Considering a set for my ’20 Trax LT
I had CS5 for about a year and a half and constantly leaking air… I had them twice already remounted and rims cleaned and the leak kept coming back.. and of course Cooper will not do anything about it and denies any tire issues … so the tire shop offered me to switch to a different brand at reduced cost (half off) and no issues ever since then… Im not the only one, quite a few CS5 owners had to replace their tires due to same issue
I’ve had the same problem with slow leaks. West has been good but wet traction after partially worn is poor.
Is this tire are Grand Touring or Stander?
I Used them on a few vehicles and they are good compared to others in it’s class. I put my mom on a set that she drove the HECK out of, even in snow. They wore flat and were still working fine years later. Currently running a set on a sporty wagon, they work great, esp in wet.
Easy to recommend them.
I’m on my 2nd set of the Cooper CS5 tires on my Dodge Nitro. I had a set I bought, after hours of research for a good touring wet weather tire about 4 years ago. I cannot day enough about these tires. For everyone here that is having some weird issue with these tires, you need to have your cars checked for mechanical issues. I have NEVER had an issue with mine. First set lasted almost 4 years 75k+ miles. They are unbeatable in their price range, for wet weather driving and highway distance driving. Until someone can make a better tire for less than $150 each, I will keep buying these. Peace.

Just got rid of my 2nd set of Cooper CS5 tires , First set after 25K miles , could never get them balances , 2nd set felt like driving on a wash board after 15 K I had dural tires installed , It’s great to ride smooth again , NEVER A SET OF COOPER TIRES !!!!

I purchased a set of 4 CS5 for my dodge caravan. From the time of installation, they have had numerous leaks. I have had all the pressure sensors changed and still have leaks. The tires lasted perhaps 20K miles look like crap and 2 of the 4 need replacement. BTW the installer told me I had a nail in the tire on the 3rd take back for leaks. The 4th time they told me it was rim leaks never had a nail. So what looked great out of the gate is total garbage
Had these tires installed & aligned on my 2015 Subaru Forester 2.0xt Premium this Saturday. Got on the freeway to check out the ride. Found a straight part of the freeway, got up to 70mph, let go of the steering wheel to make sure they’re stable. My SUV immediately pulled left hard. kept driving a bit and hard to always fight the steering wheel. Went back to the tire shop and they checked the alignment again. Everything balanced. Got back on the freeway to do the test. Again immediately pulled hard left. Come Monday morning go back to the tire shop. They rotate the tires and do the alignment for the THIRD time. Everything is balance. Got back on the freeway to do the test. Again immediately pulled hard left. These are the worst tires I’ve purchased in 30+ years of driving. They are dangerous to drive on at speeds 60mph+.
Interesting comment. Have they actually done an alignment on your vehicle or only balanced the tires?
There are a number of possibilities that have nothing to do with new tires, as long as they are properly inflated and the alignment is correct. (Their machine may even be off and causing incorrect readings. It happens more often than you think.)
Has the shop you’re going to checked the brakes? A stuck caliper can cause a vehicle to veer left or right, or even something as simple as a clogged brake line can do the same thing.
Have they checked your wheel bearings? Steering linkage? Have they checked for worn tie-rods or worn lower control arm bushings? There’s a number of issues that can cause your vehicle to pull to the left or right.
For the record, I own a set of Cooper grand touring tires on my 02 Lesabre and getting ready to purchase another set for my wifes car. They have been one of the best sets of tires I’ve driven on in over 55 years of driving.
It would be extremely rare for a brand new set of tires to be the cause unless the belts inside have shifted. But that’s an easy visual check for any tire shop that takes only a few seconds to perform.
I would suggest going to a different shop and having your vehicle checked out thoroughly to pinpoint the exact cause before an accident occurs.
Seems more likely that something other than the tires is causing that (alignment of the car comes to mind) if rotating the new tires to different positions on the car still has it pulling to the left. If it were a tire causing this somehow wouldn’t the car pull to the right when you switched them?
You omitted to mention how prior tires on your vehicle performed in the same circumstance.
is the cs5 appropriate for a jeep patriot latitude, alot of highway driving but need minimal noise.?
How does the Cooper CS5 Grand touring compare to the Firestone LE2 for a Subaru Outback.
I bought a pair of these for my Toyota Sienna. They said they were 80000 mile tires. Nice tires but only lasted 40000 miles. Not sure what to do about that. I just bought another set cause for the price they are good tires. We will see how long these last
