Falken Ziex ZE-612 Tire Review & Rating

Designed for drivers looking for a high performance all-season tire for their sport coupes or sedans, the Ziex ZE-612 from Falken sports some of the latest advances in tire technology to make driving more enjoyable.

The asymmetrical tread pattern and state of the art tread compound enhance dry surface traction and steering response. Larger shoulder blocks around the tire provide additional cornering power throughout the speed range.

Wet handling and grip are enhanced through the four circumferential grooves and multi-sipe design around the tread. They work to expel more water away from the tire and minimize the risk of hydroplaning, while providing more bite on snow or slush covered roads.

One area that Falken has paid attention to is in making the ZE-612 more comfortable and quiet on the highway or around town for that matter. High Angle Variable Cross Groove technology keeps road noise at a minimum. This is something that is mentioned by many drivers as well.

Falken includes either a 65,000 or 40,000 mile tread warranty depending on tire size. The ZE612 is available exclusively through Discount Tire or America’s Tire.

Pros

  • Excellent dry surface grip and cornering power
  • Surprisingly good ride comfort
  • Minimal outside road noise
  • Inexpensive tire with a good warranty

Cons

  • Winter weather traction could be improved upon
  • Some have had issues with a shorter tread life

Overall Thoughts

The ZE-612 is similar in every way to the ZE-912. The only difference is that the 612 is exclusive to Discount Tire. That said, like the 912, this tire performs well on dry or wet road surfaces. Cornering and steering response are equally impressive.

On the other hand, winter weather driving traction may be an issue for some, and others have mentioned a shorter than expected tread life. Overall, we feel this is a pretty good tire for the money spent. While they are not a high-performance Michelin tire, you’ll spend less money and have a decent set of higher performing all-season tires in return.
