Firestone Destination LE 2 Tire Review & Rating
The Firestone Destination LE 2 all-season tire is the company’s second version of this model and arguably one of the highest rated models in their entire lineup. Designed for drivers of all types of pickups, crossovers, vans and SUV’s, the LE2 is engineered to provide increased handling and ride quality over the original LE.
A silica enhanced all-season tread compound and symmetric tread pattern deliver solid traction on dry, wet or snow covered road surfaces. The center rib and notched shoulder blocks provide increased handling and cornering performance, as well as better overall steering response. While the original LE offers good response, you can feel the difference on this tire.
The tire’s circumferential grooves and sweeping lateral grooves expel water away from the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. The result is better wet pavement traction and added confidence when driving in rough weather. Unique cross grooves and added zig-zag sipes around the tire enhance performance on snow. This is another area that this tire excels in. Whether light or deep snow, sleet or slush, the LE2 gets you through it.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that are nylon reinforced for added strength and durability throughout the speed range. A polyester cord body further increases ride comfort. Firestone has a massive number of sizes available ranging from 15-20 inches, and includes a 60,000 mile tread guarantee as well.

Overall Thoughts
The Destination LE2 is a nice upgrade from the original LE. The biggest differences seem to be an improvement in handling and lower road noise. Traction on dry or wet pavement, as well as in snow, is excellent. We’d like to see better traction on ice and hard-packed snow, but this is not a winter tire. That said, this tire does a decent job in lighter amounts of snow and slush, which is a point made in many driver reviews as well.
Handling and cornering are tighter on this tire than the original, which is great to see. You can really feel it behind the wheel. The ride is very comfortable, and road noise is nominal. You feel as if you are riding on a more expensive touring tire. We’d go as far to say it is one of the better riding standard all-season tires available today for trucks and SUV’s.
The tread is designed to be longer lasting, which Firestone backs up with a 60,000 mile guarantee. We’ve heard very few complaints in regards to treadwear on this tire.
Overall, the performance on this tire nearly matches that of other tires like the Michelin Defender LTX M/S, General Grabber HTS60 and other top all-season models at the top of this class. Even better is that Firestone has priced the LE2 lower than many of these brand name tires, making it an outstanding value in new tires. Highly recommended.

Firestone provides a 5-year or 60,000 mile tread warranty on the LE2. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 1/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5-years and include free replacement during the first 3-years. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth. You will also receive Firestone’s 30-day buy and try guarantee which allows you to refund or exchange the tires in the event you are not completely satisfied.

These tires came with my new Jeep. I was very surprised that after 31,000 miles the dealer is sayingI need new tires. I always thought tires lasted longer than that. I will not buy these as a replacement. Of course, It is past the 3 year warranty.
Put the LE 2 on Ram 1500 crew cab 12/15/17 with 45,500 miles on pickup. This past month while at farm auction couple guys told me to have my husband replace before “winter”, they’re shot!!. Took to independent dealership we bought them at for their opinion yesterday 12/17/20 Tires are shot , 2/32 …. 3 years ,2days,77,000 mikes on Ram- 31,500 miles on tires- considerably less than the 60k they’re guaranteed for. Granted we live in the country and with auction business drive lots of gravel/dirt roads… sure thought we would have gotten better mileage off them!!
Now to find a tire that will live up to its tread life !
I drive under 10000 miles a year the destination tire do not hold up at allThisb December makes this dry two years old and they are wore out.tjisbis my third set.the truck is well maintained.
Have run 3 sets of Destination Le2 now. Last set went 80,000 miles. Incredible tire for the money. This was on a Chevy Silverado and a Tahoe. Will continue to buy these for my vehicles. Never a problem and rarely rotate the tires fwiw.
I put the the Destination LE2 tires on my 2010 Honda Ridgeline at 50k miles and I really like them. I noticed a big difference immediately. My Ridgeline now had 60K miles and the tires continue to impress me. I would highly recommend these tires to anyone with a vehicle they are designed for. You will not be disappointed. I purchased my tires at Firestone and got the lifetime wheel alignments. This is important to get the max used from the tire (in my opinion).
i have been using these tires for 17 years. i never go more than 40,000 miles on them, but they are still good when i remove them, and since i drive fast on the highway, i change them. the key to making them last is rotating them properly. you cannot go wrong with these tires
Great reviews. Purchase 8 a year ago. Two for my wife’s Jeep and two for mine. Both 2015 Compass models. She sold hers in May, so I can only report on mine. At 20,000 miles these tires are noisy and my mechanic suggests I get new tires before winter. I’ve always gotten at least 2 years and more out of other brand tires. I spent hours researching and reading reviews on this tire. Sad to say they are no good. Warranty requires 5,000 mile rotations. I did 7,000 mile rotations on these and on past brands I used to go 10,000 with no issues. The noise is really bad and the winter driving conditions I have in NH showed me they weren’t what was expected. All the excitement I had for these Destination LE2’s faded quickly.
Application, Silverado 1500 Firestone Destination LE got 29000 miles purchased at Tires Plus. Got a mileage credit and replaced with Destination LE2. Got 24000 miles. REALLY BAD on packed snow and ice. Leaving the Firestone brand.
What is the Rating of the Destination LE2 P-Metric BL 225/55R 19? Is this a good tire for a 2013 Mazda CX-5 Touring?
The handling on hard pack is so poor that these tires need to be called a three-season tire. I have driven many other all season tires in winter, but these are especially bad in icy conditions. Either get these tires off your vehicle for the winter, or wait until a sand truck has gone by. Otherwise, just as advertised, they are a great highway tire.
I see some great reviews on this tire, but I have to say that I don’t have more than 35,000 on them and two of them are already at or below the 3/100 mark… Unfortunately we had a local tire shop put them on and they never recorded mileage so we are out of luck with any kind of warrantee…
Does the Firestone Destination LE2 help with fuel consumption like the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max?
Firestone has made mention that the LE2 has a 15% reduction in rolling resistance compared to the original LE. This is supposed to translate into a 2% increase in fuel efficiency.
