Kumho Rolls Out Its First Self-Sealing Tire

Kumho Tire Co. has just announced the launch of their newly developed self-sealing tire, the first ever such tire for the South Korean tire-maker.

Utilizing their unique “K-Seal” technology, the tire will be capable of self-sealing itself from tread punctures of up to 5mm, which is similar to Continental’s ContiSeal technology.

Kumho has introduced the new technology on its Majesty Solus tires in three sizes:275/40ZR19 XL 105W, 245/45ZR19 XL 102W and 235/45ZR17 XL 97W.

Currently, the new tires are only available overseas, but will likely make their way to the U.S. market in the near future.

Kumho added in their press release statement that prices on the tires containing K-Seal will be approximately 30% higher than standard tires. They also went on to say that the tires weigh around 10% more than non-sealing models, but that performance on the street and ride comfort remain the same as regular tires.
