Why Would Anyone Buy New Tires On Amazon

If you’re like most people who do any kind of shopping online today, you have probably purchased something from Amazon. As the world’s largest online shopping site, Amazon sells just about anything you could ever need or want… and that would include tires.

Tires? You mean people actually purchase new tires for their vehicle on Amazon? Yes, they sure do and it’s an area that is growing by leaps and bounds every year for a number of good reasons. Here’s just a few of the many reasons why you might want to think of buying your next set of tires from Amazon.

Selection & Availability

One of the biggest benefits you find with shopping on Amazon is their massive selection of products. They offer just about any type of tire from virtually any and every tire manufacturer you can think of. This makes finding those hard to locate specialty tires or high performance tires much easier.

There is nothing more frustrating than finding a tire you really want and then discovering your local tire shop doesn’t carry it. It happens all the time because for the most part local tire stores will stock only popular models that they know sell quickly. They don’t have the space to carry every tire brand and model, not to mention the added inventory costs. So they stock only what sells well. Amazon doesn’t have these same issues.

Making It Convenient

Whether it’s Amazon or any other online tire seller, buying tires from your computer or mobile device is as convenient as it gets. You eliminate the need to spend time driving around to different tire shops during store hours, or make a bunch of phone calls, in order to find out if they carry the model and size of tire you’re looking for. You could be sitting at home in your pajamas and buy a set of tires if you like. Who doesn’t like simple and easy?

Trust

The growth of online shopping has been nothing short of phenomenal. It’s reached the point to where shopping online is as common as going store to store. When people think about websites that are the safest and most secure to order from online, Amazon is arguably the single most trusted site on the internet. You don’t even think twice about placing an order through Amazon because you know what you’re buying is going to be delivered, and delivered quickly.

Hassle Free

One of the chief complaints among tire shoppers is having to deal with aggressive sales people who look to up sell you on all types of extras at the store. While this does not happen in all stores of course, it does happen in many cases. You go in to buy a set of tires and the dealership pushes to get an added alignment, brake job or other service you really didn’t need at the time. I’ve had this happen myself as well over the years. It’s for this reason and many others that I’ve heard some people say over the years that they would rather go to the dentist than have to go out and buy new tires

This is not the case when you buy online. You’re buying what you want without any hassle. No one is standing there trying to talk you into buying a different set of tires that the store is pushing this month, nor is anyone trying to up sell other services and extras that you may not need.

Reviews

Something that a lot of people look for before buying tires are reviews from other owners of that tire. That’s another area where Amazon, as well as our site, makes things much easier. You can checkout the reviews to see what others are saying about the tires you’re looking to purchase. You feel better in knowing that you’re making a good choice in tires for your particular vehicle.

Free Shipping And Other Savings

It goes without saying that price is a big factor for a vast majority of drivers who are purchasing new tires. Again, you’ll likely find that prices on Amazon are often much lower than what you’ll pay at local stores. You’re not paying the overhead that local stores have to add to their costs. There’s also no sales tax that has to be paid in most states. When you add that up on a $500 or $900+ set of tires it can be a substantial savings to say the least.

What about shipping costs though? I know it has to be expensive to ship a set of tires, right? Wrong! If you look at all the tires available on Amazon you’ll quickly begin to see that most every one of them is offered with free shipping. This applies not only to Prime members, but for anyone. That’s another savings that can’t be overlooked.

You’ll find that many shopping sites and tire sites will add shipping and handling to their tires on the back end of the sales process, right at the point you’re checking out. In some cases it can cost an additional $50-$100 for shipping. Not having to pay shipping on Amazon means more money stays in your pocket.

For selection, convenience, trust and saving money, using Amazon for buying tires can be a great option that you might want to consider the next time you find yourself needing a new set of tires.

  1. Why? Because I have a ton of amazon gift cards saved up from surveys and could get practically free tires that would cost me 732 plus taxes at the shop.

    1. no you dont have to if you have a tire changer machine and wheel balancer and all other necessary equipment to dismount and mount tires.

  2. Mobile Tire installation is the way many smart consumers are saving money. By purchasing tires online at Amazon, TireRack or TIreAmerica, they not only get a great deal on tires without the hassle of the brick and mortar stores, but they can have the tires professionally installed at their home or office. All three online stores have recommended mobile installers. We are one of the recommended installers serving the Charlotte NC metro area. Great article btw!

  3. in June 2018 I found that Amazon ships tires to a Sears center (in my case one of two in greater Denver, but not one that is convenient) where they can be mounted for an addition $17 each.

    1. From our own experiences with Amazon they band and package 2 tires together. Tires were shipped UPS directly to us. UPS drivers have said they deliver quite a number of tires every week. Very easy and hassle free.
